Word definitions
muredzi: One who entrusts another with a child’s care
Translation
A mother, unlike the father, is the true caregiver for whom a child calls out when they cry.
Inspiration
A father simply ensures a child is taken care of, while a mother actually takes care of the child. That is why you will often hear the Shona say out the word ‘amai’ when they cry.
Application
Generally, women show more compassion and love to children than men do, and women are generally more charitable to children even those other than their own.
